Game Harbor Overview
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos
1997 classic • Officially remastered
A cheerful 3D platforming adventure about rescuing the Gobbos from Baron Dante, now available through an official modern remaster.
The classic Croc adventure
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos began as a colourful 3D platformer in 1997. Croc runs, jumps, climbs, swims and attacks with a tail spin while travelling through themed islands to rescue his adopted Gobbo family.
The straightforward movement, collectible-heavy stages and bright character design make it an easy retro game to recognise, while the fixed-camera origins and deliberate platforming reflect the early years of console 3D games.
What the official remaster adds
The modern release preserves the original adventure while adding enhanced HD presentation, updated controls and camera behaviour, plus retro display modes for players who want a look closer to the 1990s release.
Argonaut also added the Crocipedia, a digital museum containing development material, concept work, design documents, music and interviews. The game contains 45 levels spread across five worlds, with bosses, secrets and collectible Gobbos.
Platinum Edition additions
The later Platinum Edition update added Time Attack, additional achievements and trophies, more Crocipedia material, music selection and quality-of-life improvements. Existing owners receive the update according to the platform-specific instructions supplied by Argonaut Games.
Can Croc be played in the browser here?
No. GameHarbor does not host or distribute the original PlayStation ROM, disc image or PlayStation BIOS. Those files remain copyrighted and cannot be added to the website as a free browser game without permission from the rights holder.
This page instead links to the current official release. On GOG, the classic PC version is supplied with a purchase of the remaster, providing a legitimate way to access both versions on PC.
GameHarbor summary
Croc remains an important example of early 3D platforming. The official remaster is the safest and simplest way to revisit it today, especially for players who want modern controls alongside the original visual style and historical extras.
